How long does student cover usually run?
Typical academic-year cover is 9-12 months; extendable for postgraduate degrees up to 6 years. Includes mental-health cover (mandatory for US universities) + sports-injury (mandatory for UK). Pre-existing conditions auto-tag — declare them.
Is travel insurance mandatory?
Required for Schengen, the UK and several other visas. Elsewhere it's optional but highly recommended — a single hospital night abroad can outrun a year's premium.
What counts as a pre-existing condition?
Anything you've been treated for, medicated for or diagnosed with in the last 12–24 months (varies by plan). Declare it up front — we tag plans that cover them for a small top-up.
Can I extend my cover mid-trip?
Yes — most insurers allow one extension up to the policy cap. Do it before the current cover expires, otherwise it's a fresh underwrite.
What if my trip gets cancelled?
